This song was written and recorded when James was playing drums with the band (c.1998). The Von Trapps were in a state of flux and not playing many shows then. Benny, a friend of the band and former member of Honeywater and Starblind, contributed his touch to this sole Von Trapps recording. "Last Summer Was Better" was performed regularly until the summer of 2001, when Jenny deemed it "too old."
